Personal care assistance (PCA) services provide assistance and support for persons with disabilities, living independently in the community. This includes the elderly and others with special health care needs. Caregivers come to the home of the individual and help with health-related needs and assist with daily activities such as eating, toileting, grooming, dressing, bathing, transferring, mobility, and positioning. PCA services are available to children as well as adult. PCA services are reimbursed by Medical Assistance, Home and community-based services (HCBS) waiver program, or by health insurance.
